  1. Which HID Kit Should I Use?

    Single Beam Digital HID Kit
If your vehicle uses separate bulbs for your low and high beams, use this kit for your low beams. An additional kit may be purchased to convert your high beams as well. If you plan on buying a kit for your high beams as well, we recommend using our 35w Kit as the low beams and our 55w as the high beams to offset the difference. Our 55w kits are up to 40% brighter than our 35w kits!

Hi/Lo Beam Digital HID Kit (2 Ballasts)
If your vehicle uses 1 pair of bulbs which function as low & high beams, you may choose this kit and not lose your high beam function. Each bulb requires 1 ballast & functions as the high & low beam. We recommend our Hi/Lo Beam Digital HID Kit for users who do mostly city/highway driving.

Bi-Xenon Digital HID Kit (4 Ballasts)
If your vehicle uses 1 pair of bulbs which function as low & high beams, choose this kit & keep your high beam function. Each bulb has 2 HID bulbs per headlight (one low, one high). Two ballasts are required for each bulb, so a total of 4 ballasts come with the kit. This is the ideal choice for high & low beam function but is a bit more expensive due to the extra ballasts and dual bulbs. We recommend our Bi-Xenon Digital HID Kit for users who do mixed city/highway/country driving.

  2. What is Xenon HID light technology?

The HID bulb is a micro-discharge bulb filled with a mixture of noble gases including Xenon. The bulb has no filament unlike the standard halogen lamp. The light is created by striking an arc between 2 electrodes in an air tight quartz capsule. The HID lamp needs a starter for quick ignition and an electronic ballast to function properly. This improves durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. These light sources also produce a blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight. The increased light output from a 35 watt Xenon HID lamp is approximately 200% more light then a 55 watt halogen bulb. Xenon HID will also draw less power from your vehicles electrical system.

    Temperature:

Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people have the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit, this belief is false. The truth is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will have. However, it is a fact that, all HID light is brighter than Halogen, even if it is a 12,000 Kelvin, the Lumen will still maintain well over 2,500lm, which is still 2x brighter than 55W Halogen light.

Temperature = Color and Lumens = Brightness

  3. What are the advantages of HID over standard halogen bulbs?

    More Light Output

A 35-Watt Xenon HID lamp produces up to 4x the lumens of light when compared to a 55-Watt halogen bulb.

    Brighter and More Vivid Light

It is a common misconception that higher color temperature produce brighter light. This is untrue. While the halogen light appears yellowish in color, the HID lighting system produces a light that is closer to that of natural sunlight. HID lights are categorized by their color tempature in Kelvin (K). In most cases the as the color temperature rises, the colors gradually turn from white to blue to purple.

While we supply all major color temperatures from 3,000K to 30,000K, we recommend selecting a color temperature between 4,300K and 6,000K to best match daylight colors. The most popular HID kits run in the range of 6,000K to 10,000K. Temperatures above 6,000K are also more noticeable, are not installed on factory vehicles by their manufacturer, and may even be illegal in your area.

    Greater Visibility

In most night time driving and/or inclement weather situations, the combination of a whiter color and a greater light output allows for a safer and more illuminated drive. The light output spread is far more then compared to a regular stock halogen bulb.

    Greater Product Life

HID systems draw almost 2/3 less power from your vehicles electrical system. Our HID bulbs are designed to out-last your car. When tested, our HID bulbs lasted over 3,000 hours. We use the finest materials available to produce our HID bulbs.

    Distinctiveness

Your vehicle will not only have the latest in automotive lighting technology, but also have a unique eye-catching appeal. Currently, mostly only high-end vehicles offer optional or included factory-installed HID lighting systems. For the amount you will spend on replacing your halogen light bulbs, you could have the appeal of a high-end luxury car and the peace of mind that comes with quality HID kit from HouseofHID.com

  5. Can I re-install the original halogen bulbs after the HID kit has been installed?

We know that people sell their cars, so its known that being able to un-install your HID kit is important. With our kits you will be able to un-install your kit and replace it with your standard halogen bulbs or any bulbs of your preference. This process is exactly like the installation, but in the reverse order. It can be un-installed without any damage to the product or your vehicle. Your HID kit can even be re-installed into your new vehicle, provided the bulb sizes are the same. If the bulbs are not the right size, we have a wide variety of replacement bulbs as well!

  8. Can I just replace the halogen bulb in my vehicle with HID bulbs without having to purchase the entire kit?

No. Motorcycles and automobiles currently use a 12 Volt electrical system for their headlamps. HID lighting systems require over 20,000 volts to ignite the bulbs. Once lit, they only require 12 volts to keep running. That is where the ballast comes in. Our kits include a power pack that is necessary for the lamps to turn on. The input of the power pack is 12 volts. It is an integral part of the system.

  9. Are HID light systems street legal?

No HID conversion kit available from any source is DOT approved if not installed by the factory. In the United States, they are not street legal for use on public roads. We endorse the kit for exhibition and off-road use and will only sell the kit to be used for these purposes. We are not responsible for buyers who violate the terms of sale, in which they will assume all responsibilities and / or liabilities for any unauthorized or unintended use other than exhibition or off-road use.
